Customer Advisory: BT / Openreach Industrial Action – July 2022

As you may have seen in the media, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) have successfully balloted their members for strike action with notice given to strike on two dates later this month; these are currently scheduled for Friday 29th July and Monday 1st August 2022.

Whilst these plans are not fully confirmed, and this is a very fast-moving situation, we wanted to make our customers aware of the impact of this industrial action.

Currently we are being advised that the BT / Openreach network will remain running during these dates. Some protocols will be implemented to handle workload, in the same manner in which Covid-19 was managed.

What does this mean for our customers?

• Provisioning of any new circuits may be delayed over these two days. Any work that has been scheduled in for these dates may be re-arranged.

• The reduced staffing levels may impact fault response times. However, faults will be prioritised over provisioning activity.

• There is the potential for site visits to be cancelled at short notice for engineer diversions to outages

• Any non-essential planned engineering work has been cancelled for these two dates
